A feral cat is a domestic cat that has reverted to its wild instincts or a cat that was born in the wild. They tend to live in colonies and are usually afraid of people, but personalities in feral cats can vary as much as domestic ones.
According to when a cat is found even if they are a feral they could end up as a laid back lap cat. The age is typically under 7 weeks old - as this is when behaviours are learnt. If the cat is found later in life it is much more difficult to unlearn feral behaviours but not impossible with love, patience and time. We have many adult ferals in loving homes who although still sometimes shy are wonderful companions.
For completely feral cats good homes can still be found in farms and country homes mostly living outside with access to food and shelter. They are great at keeping the rats and mice away.
